HARRISBURG – Yesterday, the House and Senate both unanimously approved a resolution, introduced by Rep. Shelby Labs (R-Bucks), to extend the State of Emergency declaration to offer additional relief to the southeast region of Pennsylvania.

“No one could have anticipated the damage Hurricane Ida had on our communities and neighbors, destroying homes and businesses, relocating families and causing heartbreak to many,” Labs said. “In order to recover from this disaster, people need sufficient resources and assistance immediately. Extending the emergency declaration offers these areas devastated by the hurricane the relief they deserve.”

House Resolution 139 is a concurrent resolution to extend the disaster emergency declaration in response to the aftereffects of Hurricane Ida. A concurrent resolution was passed unanimously by both the House and Senate.

“The resolution would allow the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency to work alongside the Federal Emergency Management Agency in bringing these resources and relief to our communities damaged by Hurricane Ida, which is extremely important,” noted Labs.

“Thank you to both my colleagues in the House and Senate for moving this with urgency, treating it as the emergency it is,” Labs said.
